Centre for Crisis Prevention and Peace Advocacy (CCPPA)
was established in 2009. It was known first as the
Centre for Crisis and Preventive Diplomacy (CCPD).
The impetus for the organization stemmed from
recognition of the high rate and intractable nature
of contemporary conflict formations in Nigeria as
well as the global events and human experiences in
general which have given the quest for peace a new
The founders of CCPPA believed that a strong and
organized platform would help support collaborative
peace building for conflict transformation, create a
civilization of peace and promote the development of
conflict management and peace building in Nigeria
through education and personal development/learning.
CCPPA plays a major role in developing and
disseminating innovative approaches to negotiation
and conflict management, including collaboration
between conflict resolution organizations and
organizations in the field of democratization, human
rights, security and economic reconstruction. CCPPA
is also membership driven with members drawn from
both public and private sectors. In addition to
setting professional standards, the centre also
provides opportunities for short term training.
